CurvesSmart is Curves' advanced fitness technology training system. You will receive a precision designed workout, moment-to-moment feedback, and progress reports that will keep you motivated. All you have to do is "GO FOR GREEN!"
The CurvesSmart technology motivates and challenges you to achieve your personal health, strength training, and weight management goals by keeping you committed to exercise. CurvesSmart ensures you maintain an exertion level that is safe and guarantees maximum benefit based on your own unique body signature.
Set a CurvesSmart programming and training appointment with a Curves Coach to upgrade your membership! A coach will ensure your paperwork is complete and will enter your personal data to customize your program. A CurvesSmart ID Tage will be assigned to you. You will be taken through a strength repetition maximum (1RM) and range of motion (ROM) assessment which customizes the workout for your body. A personalized exercise profile will be created.
Once your profile is established, you are ready to begin your personalized workout. Remember this very important mantra while working out: Scan, Sit, Go for Green!
Be sure hands are clean and free of oils and lotions. Place palms directly on the sensors with fingers wrapped around the handles. Do not hold the grip too firmly, but focus to keep your hands as still as you can while the electrodes begin to read your HR. Some medications and pacemakers may affect your HR and the accuracy of the sensors.
The CurvesSmart system collects all your daily workout information and presents an overall Workout Level, often referred to as "Performance Index (PI)", on a scale of 1-10. This value represents the intensity level or the amount of work that is performed. At the end of your workout (the Success Coach will display the word "END" with fireworks!), scan your keytag into the Kiosk to checkout and review your results. Here you can view your performance and progress over the past several workouts. CurvesSmart ensures results by continuing to adjust your workout intensity.

Most members will prefer this program. By working out at 65% of your maximum strength (1RM), you will safely achieve excellent results. Each workout begins with a 3-minute warm-up and ends with a 3-minute cool-down which the Success Coach will display. Members will then incorporate 5 minutes of stretching afterward.
This body sculpting program is based on a high intensity workout that will be set at 75% of your maximum strength (1RM). Each workout begins with a 3-minute warm-up and ends with a 3-minute cool-down which the Success Coach will display. Members will then incorporate 5 minutes of stretching afterward.
Members with health concerns may enjoy the cardio program. With this program, resistance will be set at a safe 50% of your maximum strength (1RM). Each workout begins with a 5 minute warm-up and ends with a 5 minute cool-down which the Success Coach will display. Members will then incorporate 5 minutes of stretching afterward.
This program is designed for the fitness enthusiast, training for an endurance challenge, such as marathon, triathlon, etc. It will maximize cardio and muscle overload, requiring maximum effort during every workout. You will warm-up and cool-down on your own, such as by running to the facility prior to your workout, running back home again after your workout, and finishing with 5 minutes of stretching afterward.
A figure will appear with each muscle group represented on the body image by a colored dot (yellow or green) indicating how well that muscle has been exercised. When a user hovers the computer mouse over a colored muscle dot, the muscle name, with indication of the intensity percentage they will have achieved, will display. Users will also be able to view opposing muscle imbalances.
Displays the total Performance Index (PI) on a scale from 1 to 10, with a yellow or green indicator (triangle arrow) of improved or decreased intensity.
Displays total calories burned during each workout.
Displays a summary of your Workout Level intensity targets and your actual results for the past 7/14 days or Month of workouts. Results for each strength machine and additional recommendations for how to improve performance may be available for users through the Curves.com Member Portal.***

*When used correctly, the Recovery Stepper HR Sensors should be accurate for approximately 75% of the population. If you do not receive a reading, revert back to the manual method of measuring HR on the next metabolic conditioning station.
**This program will be automatically selected for any second day in a row Recovery (consecutive) Day for Fit 'n' Trim or Muscle 'n' Strength workouts.
